Tabs Widget plugin for WordPress now available

A new release by ilovecolors in CodeCanyon: a plugin for WordPress to display recent posts from three different categories or tags in rotating tabs displaying featured images if they are available.

Why using rotating tabs?

To allow for more exposure of your content. Regular tabs only show the content in the first tab, while the other tabs have to be manually clicked to expose their content. Rotating tabs are a great way to display all of your content to your users without much effort from their side.

The plugin utilizes code from the jQuery Tabs previously published here on ILC in order to create lightweight and cross browser rotating tabs that can be added multiple times to a page.

How it works

After installing and activating the plugin, you’ll get two new widgets to display recent posts from categories and tags. All you have to do is to drag the widget to the sidebar where you want to display the tabs and choose the category or tag from which you want to pull posts from.

In addition, you can configure the following settings

  • custom title for each tab, in case the category name is too long
  • tab rotation speed (or disable it)
  • display featured images (independent setting from tab to tab)
  • tab group title

The plugin settings page will allow you to set the size of the featured image and also to choose between two light and one dark colour schemes for your the widget. From then, you can tweak the CSS to adjust them to match your size perfectly.
